A private taxi from Singapore to Johor Bahru is, hands down, the most ideal way to travel.
We went with JBTAXI.SG. A driver picked us up from our doorstep in Singapore and dropped us off anywhere we wanted in JB. This convenience makes travelling a breeze, not a hassle.
Since scheduling is more flexible with a private taxi, what we did was choose to depart for JB earlier than the peak hours to avoid congestion at the border.

While the ride is quick, taking the KTM Shuttle Tebrau from Singapore to JB is not all it’s cracked up to be.
With a train arriving every 75 minutes, you’re better off catching a public bus, which is more frequent and requires no boarding time!
But if you want to experience taking the KTM Shuttle Tebrau and hate taking the bus, by all means, give it a go.
Notes:
- Online tickets are released (1) month in advance.
- Buying tickets online is highly encouraged as they sell out very quickly.
- Make sure you have a valid passport with at least 30 days validity from date of travel.
- Boarding gate opens 40 minutes before departure time and closes 20 minutes before departure time.
4. RTS From Singapore To Johor Bahru
Pros:
- Planned frequency of 3.6 minutes during peak hours
- 6-minute ride from Woodlands North Station (Singapore) to Bukit Chagar Station (JB)
- Immigration clearance done at departing station only
- Like the KTM, it’s jam-free
Cons:
- Not ideal if you have tons of luggage
Recommended For:
- Travellers who want a more efficient alternative to KTM
Price Range:
To be announced.
The upcoming RTS link rail system promises greater connectivity and efficient travel between Singapore and JB.
It will have a much higher frequency of trains, which will make it more convenient than the KTM Shuttle Tebrau.
Unfortunately, it won’t be ready until December 2026 (at least). In the meantime, we’ll just have to make do with the KTM.
5. Self Drive From Singapore To Johor Bahru
