While driving to Mid Valley Southkey is certainly possible, for this guide, I’m going to focus mainly on public transport from Singapore to Mid Valley Southkey.
There are 2 types of public transport to choose from: public bus or KTM Shuttle Tebrau train.
Public transport is economical but more time-consuming as both will only reach JB CIQ First Link/JB Sentral. From there, you’ll have to transfer to another bus to Mid Valley JB.
At the end of this guide, we’ll also discuss private taxis, which offer direct transport to Mid Valley JB but are more expensive.

Step 1: Take Public Transport From Singapore To Woodlands Checkpoint
Recommended For:
- Frugal travellers
- 1-2 people
- Those who don’t mind making transits
To get to Mid Valley JB, you will be travelling along the Woodlands Checkpoint route.
Decide if you’re going to take a bus or KTM Shuttle Tebrau from Singapore. Check out the options below to see which option is most convenient for you.
Notes:
- CW accepts payment by Manjalink card or Visa card.
- SMRT and SBS accept payment by EZ-Link card or cash.
Option 1: Causeway Link Bus CW1/CW2/CW5
Causeway Link is the preferred bus operator for many Singaporeans because of its frequency.
To get a CW bus from Singapore to JB, you can go to any of the following locations:
- Kranji MRT: CW1
- Queen Street Bus Terminal: CW2
- Newton Circus: CW5
Option 2: SMRT 950 Bus
If you’re in the Woodlands area, here’s how to take bus from Woodlands to JB:
You can take a train to Woodlands MRT Station, then walk to Woodlands Temporary Bus Interchange. From there, catch SMRT 950 to the SG-MY border.
Option 3: SBS Bus
Besides CW buses, another popular option is a SBS bus to JB. You can take one from the following places:
- Jurong Town Hall Bus Interchange: SBS 160
- Queen Street Bus Terminal: SBS 170
- Kranji MRT: SBS 170X
Option 4: KTM Train
Finally, you can also opt to take the KTM Shuttle Tebrau from Woodlands Train Checkpoint to JB Sentral.
Taking the KTM Shuttle Tebrau is recommended if:
- You want to bypass congestion at the SG-MY border
- You just hate taking the bus.

- Tickets can be bought online or over-the-counter. However, you’re advised to get them online.

Step 2: Immigration Clearance At Both Woodlands Checkpoint & JB Checkpoint
You’ll have to undergo immigration and customs clearance at both Woodlands Checkpoint and JB Checkpoint.
If you’re taking the bus, alight and head inside the checkpoint building to do so. If you’re taking the train, both SG-MY immigration clearance will be done at Woodlands Train Checkpoint.

Step 3: Take Bus From JB Sentral Bus Terminal To Mid Valley Southkey
For bus passengers, you can walk to JB Sentral from JB CIQ.
Upon arrival at JB Sentral, walk to JB Sentral Bus Terminal. There are two buses you can take to Mid Valley Southkey (“SOGO Mid Valley” bus stop):
